”In the early 1990’s Hollister &; Co. was in its formative years. We had just begun to land sizeable client projects accentuated by a very large creative job for Reebok. In those years all of our work was prepared conventionally using analog photography, classic typesetting, proofing, page layout and print production.
Then I met Rick Jaffe and EPS. They were doing things differently. Rick owned the first professional digital camera in Boston and was touting its quality and efficiency. He was outputting ad pages electronically which was unheard of at the time. In fact, when we joined forces we had to convince doubting clients that digital was the way to go and that the future was now!
I’ll always recall the first footwear photo shoots we did and the instant output clients could review and approve immediately. Instead of a process that often required days of print proofing, color correction and re-touching, now it was all available right there on the screen.
At the same time EPS introduced digital page design. Once again, our clients could review the work in real time, make improvements, change design elements, re-work the format with immediate output. It changed their world forever. They loved it and we never looked back!
One by one our clients came aboard with the new all-digital approach and we were off and running. In the years that followed we did huge projects for Reebok, Stride-Rite, Gerber Childrenswear, Coca-Cola, Harley-Davidson, Dreamwork’s pictures and a host of others.
But it was EPS that propelled us forward to the modern era. Now, the digital conversion is complete. In fact, most designers have never known any other way. But back then it took a forward-thinking band of innovators to get it all started. EPS was the one that made it happen.
